Post-clubbing suppers

With barely an hour of sleep, I'm up and about getting ready for work. Ack, but the price to pay for an extended night out that ended at a DIY barbeque restaurant, my very first time. The food's alright, and mostly overcooked i.e. burnt maybe because boys are just well, boys haha (minus S whom I'll always remember for being so good at cooking teppanyaki). I don't mind heading back again, what better way to pass time at past 3am than a sit-down barbeque and conversations about nothing, clinking beer glasses and eating kimchi. It's true what J had noted, that clubbing culture in singapore is very much characterized by the supper after, I'm missing my kopi-c peng siew dai and bak kut teh. DIY barbeques will have to do for now.

Culture shock #28

A colleague called me 小苏 this afternoon. I am still trying to get over it.

Exploring china

(Source)

As the weekend beckons, we've finally got our hols destination all zeroed in. XR has come up with a draft itinerary so we are pretty much set minus a bit more detailed planning, scheduling and tickets, I can't wait for may to come. Shan't think about how month-long trippings are a near impossibility with this current corporate stint, I'll focus on revolutionary headquarters and terracotta warriors instead. Meanwhile I'm off to wuyuan (婺源*) county, jiangxi province this weekend. Apparently rape flowers (I know, such a funny name) are in full bloom and a gorgeous sea of yellowness would greet us amid ancient village architecture. Definitely trigger happy.

Soo highly-strung

I can't believe I was actually nervy when I headed on my usual route home last night, the first since my cellphone was nicked at that very bus stop. I had kept the wallet and cellphone in a zipped compartment of my handbag yet I couldn't take my eyes off the bag I was holding. I was worried, afraid - that if I even dare close my eyes for a moment or look away for a second, some sneaky character might just make another attempt. I got off the bus, almost reluctant to unzip the compartment to make sure everything's still in there because I was afraid everything would be gone instead. Bleah.

Low on sleep

A phonecall at past 5pm is the kind of thing you try to avoid at all costs, especially if you are not keen on last minute assignments. It turned out to be rather challenging so I don't really mind, what's unfortunate is that I don't have much time to work on it cos it is due tomorrow morning, which explains why I am still up squinty-eyed, indie songs on the speakers.

An actual disclaimer from someone's email I came across today, funny at first then getting too lame for my liking.

Touch and go

Can't believe I'm already starting to miss E's mom, aunt and cousin even as they left only this morning. The apartment feels so quiet and strange without all that buzz, good-natured bickering and brit accents I'm just getting used to. E's so lucky to have such a wonderful/supportive family, and yes everything will work out in the end (for everyone too). In other news, I had gone for a run this evening, a first (of many? yesyes) in months after a horrendous intake of grease/guilt snacks last few days. It probably didn't make any difference in view of my huge appetite tonight. Dinner was homecooked duck porridge, bran flakes with milk... and just ten minutes before, a small cup of instant noodles. I'm eating too much for my own good. Time to work on my article and let's hope it'll be out by end of the week.
