Questioning Socially-Accepted Standards Of Violence
Why is it that a realistic portrayal of violence is generally deemed negative/ excessive in our society today? True enough, we don't witness blood and gore much in daily going-ons (save in video games and movies, thankfully) yet I don't see why that should be the reason people are sheltered from the hard-to-swallow nature of such acts as long as the acts have been accurately portrayed and are not glorified. Just take a throat getting slit or a victim being repeatedly stabbed for what they are, and at the very least appreciate that these are not real life occurrences.
Note: I've taken children and (impressionable) youth out from the equation.
