Culture Shock #116

Sometimes I wonder maybe the longer I stay in China, the shorter lifespan I will have.

Pulp Fiction

Inexplicable summer heat leads to inexplicable things such as watching Pulp Fiction again. I realize I'd watched it before but couldn't remember when, and continued watching anyway. It's one of those few movies I probably can watch countless times and still not get sick of. Pure genius.

Another Night Upon Us

Poetry is but a lyrical state of depression. An article, a press release and some of the photos. I would love to read Marcos' poems.

Betsy Has A Birthday!

And actually not her most recent one, but the one two years back. Link here. So hilarious, and totally something I would do! It actually reminds me of our one-day-in-the-life-of-a-Hui adventure in Linxia not so long ago in May. Seems like no better excuse to gather some of my most spontaneous friends i.e. N! and L!! for a spunky, laughter-filled afternoon.

Culture Shock #115

You know summer is here when it gets so humid your face becomes an oily sheen of plastered sweat. I don't like.

Sunday Afternoon At The Shanghai Art Museum

IMG_6551 IMG_6596 IMG_6587 IMG_6602

I've got a confession to make: it was my first time at the Shanghai Art Museum last weekend. I know, guilty as charged. Somehow I didn't make it to the Shanghai Biennale last year and then there just wasn't any reason good enough for me to head there. Infantization, an exhibition by a bunch of up-and-coming Chinese artists born in the 1980s is well worth a look, though 300% Spanish Design is just so-so. If you have time, also check out Paolo Roversi's photographs too. I'd stumbled on that by chance.  Some of the other works I like can be found here.
