Moganshan isn't about visiting every tourist attraction in the hills so that you can brag been there done that. Mainly because the hills weren't exactly breath-takingly gorgeous, but The Moganshan Lodge pretty much makes up for it. The lodge - with its warm colours, friendly owners, cozy atmosphere, good food and drinks - will also be the only reason why I'll be back, if ever, in the future. Admittedly I've never felt this relaxed on a holiday before and it feels great.

View the complete set here and an indoor panoramic attempt here.

  • Reading Elle UK and The Sartorialist makes me want to spunk up my outfit for work tomorrow... at least something to look forward to on a dreary Monday morning.

Culture Shock #133

It's time for the annual company health check. It's socialist that everyone has to change into patient wear - i.e. pink pyjamas/ matching pink rubber slippers for girls and teal pyjamas/ matching blue rubber slippers for boys - for the entire duration of the health check.

Not too different from the stark naked Jews who were ordered to strip by the Nazi soldiers, oh the humiliation. Imagine seeing more than 100 people of all ages and sizes in the hospital in identical pyjamas, absolutely hilarious I wish I had my camera.

  • Winter is coming so having one of these would be handy. Can't decide if this design is better. Oh wait, I haven't found anyone who can help me get them yet : /

Blue Spot

"They are our brothers," said Tsogtsaikhan Gombo, a former adviser to the Mongolian Prime Minister and head of a local think tank. Koreans and Mongolians are very close ethnically, he said, noting that children of both nations are born with an unusual blue spot at the base of their spine, which later fades. As the nearest Soviet satellite, Mongolia also adopted orphans from the North during the Korean War in the early 1950s. (Link)

Interesting ! The last I was in Ulaan Bator two years back I was surprised to see so much Korean influences on Mongolian youth culture - music, fashion, tv, etc. And it seems that many Mongolian youth also head to South Korea for further education. One of our Mongolian friends has been there for two years already in fact.
